Who are they?

The Diabetes Institute (DRI) and the Foundation were founded in the early 1970s by a small group of parents whose children had diabetes. Today, it is a leader in diabetes research and funding, with a focus on research efforts aimed at developing treatments for the disease.

The organization cites the vision of “.Diabetes-free world” and ” mission toDevelop and apply the most promising research to treat and treat people who are currently living with diabetes. ”

DRI has a number of global partners, including TrialNet and The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP).

What they do

DRI focuses on three double approaches in its quest to reach biological treatment for diabetes:

• Developing “mini pancreas” that contains islets and other “helpers” within the patient’s body
• Engineering effective immunotherapy to combat immune attacks
• Creates a robust supply of insulin-producing cells

Overall, these three areas of research constitute the “biohub strategy” of biological therapy.

The overall goal is to fully restore internal insulin production in the body to normalize blood sugar without any harmful side effects. A large number of clinical trials are currently underway in all of these major research areas to support these research goals.
