Materials are required
It’s not much needed to make these Greek chicken wraps, but all ingredients pack the main flavors.
- chicken – This rap heart! The boneless, skinless chicken is also made with thighs, so it stays juicy and soft, but any cut will give you great results.
- seasoning – A simple but bold blend of dried oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and fresh lemon zest gives the chicken a classic Mediterranean flavour.
- wrap -I love using Lavash Flatbread on the perfect roll, but anything sturdy enough to hold all the stuffing.
- Azalea and hummus – The ultimate Greek-style spread duo! Azalea adds creaminess and tang, while the hummus brings a rich, nutty flavor.
- vegetables – Fresh and crispy cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions and romaine are perfectly contrasted with warm seasoned chicken.
- Feta cheese – Salty, crumbly, and very delicate – Feta ties everything together and gives these wraps the distinctive Mediterranean flavour.
Easy recipe alternatives
Make it your own! Here are some simple swaps and variations:
- Chicken exchange: Chicken thighs bring the best flavor, but chicken breast, turkey and even shrimp are also great options.
- Dairy-free options: To skip feta and get a completely dairy-free wrap, use dairy azaleas (made with coconut or cashew yogurt) using dairy products.
- I’ll make it vegetarian: Replace chicken with crispy air fryer tofu, simple grilled falafel, or Greek chickpea salad Plant-based twist.
- Change the wrap:Is there any lava? Use pita, naan, or large collard greens or lettuce wraps for low carb options.
How to make Greek chicken
Step 1: Warm the plastic wrap a little to make it softer. Spread 1-2 tablespoons of azalea and 1-2 tablespoons of hummus in each wrap.
Step 2: To assemble, add ¼ of chicken over the azalea and hummus.
Step 3: Top chicken with cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions and feta cheese. There are two romaine leaves.
Step 4: Roll wrap and push the edge in as you roll it. enjoy!
Brittany tips
- Heat the wrap: If the plastic wrap feels stiff, warm it in a dry frying pan for 10-15 seconds or wrap it in a damp paper towel and microwave for 10-20 seconds. This makes them more flexible and less likely to tear when rolling.
- Please roll it up firmly: Push it into the sides while rolling to keep everything in place. If necessary, secure the wrap with parchment or foil to give a simple grab meal.
How to store Greek chicken wrap
Preparing meals – Store all components individually in airtight containers in the fridge for 4 days. When ready to eat, warm the chicken and assemble the fresh ones for the best texture.
Save the assembled wrap – If you have already made plastic wrap, wrap them tightly in foil or parchment and store in the fridge for up to 1 day. They may be a little tender, but they will still be tasty!
frozen – We do not recommend freezing on fully assembled plastic wrap, but you can freeze cooked chicken for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight and reheat before assembly.
FAQ
The wrap itself is not gluten-free, but you can easily swap everything over rice for a gluten-free tortilla, lettuce wrap or bowl-style meal.
Spread a layer of hummus or azaleas into the plastic wrap before adding any vegetables. This serves as a barrier to prevent moisture from soaking in the bread. Also, do not overload with juicy ingredients like tomatoes.
