Materials are required
- Butter or olive oil – I love using butter for a rich and pleasant flavor, but olive oil is a great option if it is dairy free.

- Garlic – Everything is better with garlic as you’re trying to be authentic!
- Salt and black pepper – An important condiment that brings out all the flavors.

- Basmati Rice – Because this dish is very light and fluffy. Rinse first to remove any excess starch!
- Low Sodame Chicken Soup or Water – Cooking rice in soup adds even more depth and richness, but if it’s something you have on hand, the water works.
- parsley – Fresh Herbie decorations to add brightness to the dish.
Variations
- Add spices: Try a pinch of cumin, cinnamon, or smoked paprika.
- Mix more herbs: Cook with a fresh Mediterranean twist, then stir in chopped coriander, dill or mint.
- Crunch has been added: Add some crunches, toasted slivered almonds or cashews on top.
- Coconut turmeric rice: For a creamy, slightly sweet version, replace half of the coconut milk soup.
How to make turmeric rice
Step 1: Heat the medium heat pot over medium heat. Warm and add butter/oil, onion, garlic, salt and pepper. Fry for 5-6 minutes or until the onions are translucent and fragrant.
Step 2: Add the turmeric and rice. Stir the rice with turmeric.
Step 3: Add the soup. Bring the mixture to a boil, then boil the heat to cover. Cook for 15-20 minutes until rice has soaked all the liquid.
Step 4: Remove from heat to rest, cover for about 10 minutes, then apply fluff with a fork and serve.
Brittany tips
- Rinse the rice! -This removes excess starch and helps keep the grain light and fluffy rather than coagulating. Rinse under cold water until the water is clear.
- Cheers for spices – After frying the onion and garlic, then toast the turmeric in a pan for a few seconds before adding the rice. This improves its flavor and produces the best aroma.
- Do not skip break times – Once the rice is cooked, cover, cover, cover and fuzz. This allows the remaining steam to complete the cooking of the rice and finish the perfect texture.

FAQ
yes! Fry the onion, garlic and turmeric on top of the horse and transfer everything to the rice cooker with rice and soup. Cook according to the instructions on the rice cooker.
no! Turmeric adds warmth and rustic, but it’s not spicy. If you need a little heat, try adding a pinch of cayenne or red chili flakes.
Technically, yes – but I would not recommend it. Brown rice has a chuch-chi, nutty texture and takes much longer to cook. This will change the overall feel of the dish.
If you want a whole grain option, we recommend using Faro or Quinoa instead! Both absorb flavor well while maintaining a great texture.
